01/12: summer is here!
today is the first day of summer.
it wasn't a particularly nice day though, but i thought i would compile my list of my favourite things about summer in readiness for when it does arrive properly - with sunshine, blue skies and the like!
i have also recently completed a few drawings. i don't want to give too much away, as some of them are to be printed, so here's a quick look now. as soon as the magazine has been released, i'll update my website!
read on, read on!

11/10: new printed work
since i have been blogging so much about my holiday, i have neglected to show you photos of my illustrations that have been printed recently.
i have been doing illustrations and a bit of design work for blanket magazine for a few years now. before now, blanket was an online magazine, with some forays into printed work, such as posters and calendars. this all changed recently, when the editor of blanket decided to take the huge step to create a printed version of the magazine. i was so so lucky to have been included in this magazine! i have been a big supporter of blanket since i first found out about it in 2007 i think! and the first printed edition makes me so proud to have been part of this little independent endeavour!
i was also included in a recent edition of ammo magazine
one more after the jump!

20/12: domestic etch
i recently received a copy of a zine called domestic etch run by elizabeth goodspeed, a very creative 17 year old!

domestic etch is a new york-based art zine that elizabeth started two years ago. it features interviews and work from artists, designers and illustrators around the world. elizabeth contacted me a little while ago to see if i wanted to contribute a few illustrations to her magazine.
here are a few photos i took of the zine:

17/06: moviescript ending
i have always loved the film clip to the death cab song 'a movie script ending' - the flicking photographic nature of it, the story, and the song of course. so while watching it the other day, i freeze-framed it and decided to draw one of my favourite scenes from it
i got out my ink and brushes, which havent been used in a while, and got to work, drawing the base lines. i was trying to avoid drawing a lot of shadow, which i find quite hard to do (i always seem to get over-enthusiastic with shadows!). the final line work looked like this:

10/05: oh juliet
i have a new illustration to show you, and one that i have changed the words on...
so first the new one, called "oh juliet"

the other is the one from my banner, which was originally done for the finders keepers competition, but which i have now re-worded to suit my own purposes!

called sorrow, the words are by the national from a song of the same name. love it.
