19/08: my birthday, tea party style... part two
so with all the planning, buying, designing, cooking, decorating, stressing, more cooking, and even more stressing done, it was time to finish setting up, frock up, open the front door, and let people in!
it was really cool having everyone come in and gasp about the set up - i'd been so frantic about getting everything organised that i don't think i really sat back and enjoyed it until i saw everyone's reactions. but i have to say, everything looked just as I have planned it in my head, and it was all so pretty.
it was such good fun - the food was all really yummy (phew, thankfully!), the tea and cocktails flowing!
read on for the last of the photos :)
yummy vanilla cupcakes, half with butter icing, half with passionfruit icing:
marble cake with butter icing. i used paper flags rather than candles, though it was suggested i light the flags too...
incidentally, i found that table on the side of the road as part of the cleanup, and decided to paint it with blackboard paint.
although i don't have too many photos of them, i also created some alice in wonderland decorations, such as these paper roses:
mark, left, wins the mad hatter's prize, with his crazy bison hat.
the lovely teapot i was given:
must obey the teabag!
leftovers... and there were plenty. i think i went a bit nuts with the cooking, i was eating cakes and biscuits for the next week!!
so i think that will do! i hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures. i had such a great time and big thanks to all my lovely friends who came and enjoyed themselves - i hope you had as good a time as me!
